MUSIC FEEDS NASHVILLE

8/4/2020
  • Nashville’s unemployment rate rose from around 3% last Fall to a brutal 15% now during Covid19.
  • Many families that have never needed a food bank before are seeking assistance for weekly groceries now
  • Many families, especially the elderly, may be self conscious or have fear around going to a food bank or store
  • Our food distributions bring drive up food right into convenient neighborhood locations
  • No one has to do anything to qualify for food except drive up
  • We are helping people from all socio-economic backgrounds – Out of work musicians, crew, venue support, ticket takers, hospitality, tourism – so many industries that Nashville runs on
  • These distributions also help families impacted by tornadoes this year.
  • Nashville has truly experienced a double whammy with major natural disaster and pandemic occurring together
  • 1 in 6 children in Tennessee struggles with hunger (especially while out of school/summer time)
  • We give healthy food (along with some treats) sourced from Middle Tennessee farms and rescued from Nashville grocery stores and restaurants. Food is also purchased from Second Harvest
